Association

Doctoral candidates and Postdocs working on topics relevant to the research program of the Research Training Group and not funded by the German Science Foundation can at any time apply for an association with the Research Training Group and undergo a corresponding selection process.  They granted the same status as their colleagues funded by the German Science Foundation and are allowed to participate at any time in the colloquium meetings and the events of the Research Training Group. They can apply for travel funds for stays at foreign institutions and for participation in conferences in their field, in as far as such costs are not covered by their own financing. The can ask the student's assistants for help for various small orders (e.g. library scans). They also have the opportunity to publish their work in the RTG's book series and / or apply for printing grants. Doctoral candidates can be co-advised by a faculty member participating in the Research Training Group. Associated doctoral candidates and Postdocs shall participate regulary on colloquium meetings and present their project in this context. They contribute to the Annotated Bibliography Database with book reviews (one review / semester).

For an application for association, the following materials are to be submitted electronically as a single file in .pdf format (in German or English):

  • A letter of application encompassing one page
  • A two-page sketch of the planned dissertation project
  • A c.v. in tabular from with a list of publications (if applicable), degree diplomas, references to scholarly employment
  • A bachelor’s or master’s thesis
